2019 Finals Weekend

Held on Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th September
Saturday saw some excellent games with some very close matches particularly in the afternoon where all three games went to the last ends. In the mornings Men's Novices event John Carter had to fight a comeback from Jim Busby, one of this year's new bowlers, while Margaret Tinton snatched the Ladies Fixed Jack title by 2 points from the current holder, Sandra Ringshaw.

Saturday afternoon saw Beverley Plank returning to the green, following her Ladies Handicap defeat by Michelle Carlin in the morning, competing for the Ladies Rose Bowl and recording a 21-20 win against Debbie Walmsley.
The Mixed Pairs saw Pat Flood and Ken Smith looking like the winners, until 7 shots on one end brought Jan and Roger Tallentire back to level terms and go on to win 22-20. Derek Churchill went one better than last year to beat Charles Rolph in the Men's Veterans.

Sunday morning saw Doug Baxter and Roger Tallentire defeat last years winners Terry Robson and Mike Long in the Men's Pairs. Derek Churchill took his second title of the weekend in the Men's Handicap against Peter Lowe, while Sandra Ringshaw, partnered by Barbara Williams got revenge over Margaret Tinton, partnered by Jan Tallentire, in the Ladies Pairs.
Sunday afternoon, as always, the Ladies and Men's Singles events took centre stage, along with the Men's Fixed Jack where Mike Long retained his title, beating Geoff Carvosso. The Men's Championship title was retained by Doug Baxter with a 21-15 win over Peter Lowe, who was contesting his third final of the weekend. The big surprise saw Beverley Plank, in her third final this weekend, defeating Rebecca Smith, the Championship holder for the last six years, 21-9 with some very consistent bowling.
