Sat 20th August - Myra's 50th Anniversary
53 people turned up to celebrate with Myra, her 50 years of bowling. There were 5 rinks of triples played. Not only were we treated to Fish & Chips and Tea & Biscuits, we also had the sunshine. Congratulations to Steve Legge, Patricia Heather & Douglas Baxter on their overall victory. A great afternoon for all concerned. Well done & thank you to Myra.

Tues 16th August - Ladies Peggy's Day
Peggy's Day was played in nice weather and well organised by Captain Sheila Sumner with teams of triples.
Winners on the day were Debbie Walmsley, Sandra Ringshaw and Denise Bounds, seen here with their prizes.

Sun 14th August - Ron Errington Trophy
The Ron Errington Trophy, a mixed triples competition was blessed with a lovely sunny day.
The winners were Val Nightingale, Derek Baldwin and Sandra Ringshaw.
Runners up were Catherine Bull, Ron Hilditch and Ken Smith.
Sun 31st July - Ron Pews Trophy
The Ron Plews Trophy, contested between the Ladies and Gents ended with the Ladies winning 2 rinks and the Gents winning 2 rinks. On countback the Gents won by 27 shots, giving Captain Peter Lowe the pleasure of winning back the trophy won by the Ladies in 2015. The trophy was presented by Joyce Plews.
Sun 17th July - Hetty Foster
This years Hetty Foster was a mixed triples competition with an entry of 30 arranged in 10 triples. Following a light shower at the planned start time, no surprize there! the competition was a humid sunny affair.
After 3 rounds of 6 ends the unbeaten winners were Val Nightingale, Peter Lowe and Veronica Wells.

Sun 10th July - Mens Silver Jubilee Trophy and Plate
Following a drizzly start to the afternoon, this re-arranged competition finally got under way. Twelve competitors went into the draw with a 2 wood knockout, with winners progressing to the Trophy knockout stage and losers to the plate knockout stage. Each final was then a 3 player contest. Overall winner of the Jubilee Trophy was Dave Milton with Jack Britan the runner-up. The Plate was won by Martin Wales with Ron Hilditch runner-up.
Many thanks go to the Ladies for volunteering for marking duties.
Sun 3rd July Selected Pairs
The Mens Selected Pairs competition took place in the sunshine, contested by only 8 pairs, a bit of a disappointing turnout considering membership numbers.
However in a closely contested event, one pair managed to win all of their 4 games with a total of 8 points. The winning pair was Alan Jenkins and Alan Robson, runners up with 6 points were Ken Smith and Bob Pudney.
Sat 25th June - Presidents Day
Wishful thinking in sending out this email, the day before - "Presidents Day will commence with a Spider. £1 to take part, proceeds to charity. Weather is looking good for this"
As it turned out the only bowls that made it on the green were those seeking the spider, which was won by Jean Hilditch. However members spent the afternoon in the Clubhouse with wine, a meal and plenty of raffle prizes.
Sun 19th June - Alvera Plate
The weather was good for the annual Alvera Plate competition. Congratulations to the winners, Sandra Ringshaw and Alan Robson winning all 4 of their rounds played. Runners up were Pat Flood and Terry Robson.
Sun 22nd May - The Earls
The weather was kind to us for the annual Earls competition. Congratulations to winners Jack Briton Tony Hayes and Sheila Sumner. Runners up were Ron Hilditch, Val Hayes and Eve Harnwell.
Sun 18th September - Group 4 Unbadged 2 Wood
Doug Baxter and Roger Tallentire retained their Group 4 Unbadged 2 wood pairs title at Kings Chase. They were playing the same pair they had beat in last year's final, Upminster's Tom Hutton and Tony Picton. This year was much less straightforward. After 16 of the 21 ends, the Clock House duo were 9-18 behind. But an unstoppable rally over the last 5 ends saw them charge past the Upminster pair to win 21-19.
Tues 13th September - Rainham Ladies Open
Eve Harnwell, Sandra Ringshaw and Val Hayes scooped the prize money at Rainham's Ladies Open Triples Day.
Tues 2nd August - Colin Morton Trophy
John Acreman, Tony Hayes, Ron Hilditch, Mike Long, Peter Lowe, Denis Mills, Bob Pearce played the semi-final of the Colin Morton Trophy. Sadly we came up against a strong Brentwood team losing on both rinks. Nevertheless a great performance to reach the semis.
Sat 9th July - Kings Chase Ladies Triples Day
The Clockhouse triples team of Val Hayes, Pat Flood and Denise Bounds scooped the prize at Kings Chase, winning all 3 of their matches in their group to secure 1st place from Haynes Park.
Thurs 7th July County Pairs
Hazel Pudney and Sandra Ringshaw were unsuccessful in the A2 Area Final held at Liberty, being beaten by Drums pair June O'Neill and Serena Madgewick.
Sun 3rd July - Brentwood Invitation Triples
Eighteen teams took part in the Invitation Triples competition at Brentwood. Doug Baxter, Roger Tallentire and Keith Brown triumphed with 73 points, winning of all 5 games of 7 ends with a 5 point margin over runners-up South Benfleet and Canvey.
Sat 18th June - County 4 Wood Singles
Sandra Ringshaw progressed, as the A2 Area winner, to the quarter finals of the County 4 wood singles held at Great Baddow. She was beaten 21-9 by the D2 Area winner, Doreen Butcher from Dunmow.
Sun 22nd May - Ashford Cup
Doug Baxter and Dennis Mills represented Group 4 v Group 2 in the Ashford Cup on Sunday at Radwinter (Near Saffron Walden) winning in both our rinks. Unfortunately other rinks lost, hence 4-2 down (one being by the solitary shot) 3-3 would have been a good score to take into next week’s match at West Mersea.
Sun 1st May - Champions v The Rest (BDA) Triples
The early season Champions v The Rest (BDA) Triples match took place on Sunday 1st May at Kings Chase. The result, in lovely weather and on a lovely track, was a substantial win for The Rest, with our trio of Doug Baxter, Keith Brown & Roger Tallentire providing the most resounding result of the day, winning their rink by a comfortable 30 - 10.
After the match the draw was made for the first round of this year's Roger Burdon Trophy, as follows:-
