Congratulations to Steve Legge, Patricia Heather & Douglas Baxter on their overall victory. A great afternoon for all concerned. Well done & thank you to Myra.

Sun 3rd July Selected Pairs

The Mens Selected Pairs competition took place in the sunshine, contested by only 8 pairs, a bit of a disappointing turnout considering membership numbers.

However in a closely contested event, one pair managed to win all of their 4 games with a total of 8 points. The winning pair was Alan Jenkins and Alan Robson, runners up with 6 points were Ken Smith and Bob Pudney.

Sat 25th June - Presidents Day

Wishful thinking in sending out this email, the day before -

"Presidents Day will commence with a Spider. £1 to take part, proceeds to charity. Weather is looking good for this"

As it turned out the only bowls that made it on the green were those seeking the spider, which was won by Jean Hilditch.
However members spent the afternoon in the Clubhouse with wine, a meal and plenty of raffle prizes.

Group 4 Unbadged 2 Wood

Doug Baxter and Roger Tallentire retained their Group 4 Unbadged 2 wood pairs title at Kings Chase. They were playing the same pair they had beat in last year's final, Upminster's Tom Hutton and Tony Picton. This year was much less straightforward. After 16 of the 21 ends, the Clock House duo were 9-18 behind. But an unstoppable rally over the last 5 ends saw them charge past the Upminster pair to win 21-19.
Tues 13th September -

Sun 22nd May - Ashford Cup

Doug Baxter and Dennis Mills represented Group 4 v Group 2 in the Ashford Cup on Sunday at Radwinter (Near Saffron Walden) winning in both our rinks. Unfortunately other rinks lost, hence 4-2 down (one being by the solitary shot) 3-3 would have been a good score to take into next week’s match at West Mersea.

The early season Champions v The Rest (BDA) Triples match took place on Sunday 1st May at Kings Chase.
The result, in lovely weather and on a lovely track, was a substantial win for The Rest, with our trio of Doug Baxter, Keith Brown & Roger Tallentire providing the most resounding result of the day, winning their rink by a comfortable 30 - 10.
