Clockhouse Hot Shots at Corringham friendly

On Saturday 23rd September, 4 rinks visited Corringham Bowls Club for the final friendly of the season. Not being the easiest of venues to find, there were a few logistical tales to be told. Although the green looked like a battleground, we were lucky to get away with a narrow defeat of 2.5 to 1.5. However on the Captains rink, after 19 ends Clockhouse were losing 18-12. With only 2 ends left, what could turn the tables? A 'HOT SHOT' on end 20, exactly what they achieved, that is a the team scored maximum points on one end, putting them in the lead 20-18, however they got too excited and only managed a draw.
The rink was Charles Rolph (Lead), Pam Bowden, Michelle Carlin and Hazel Pudney.
Do hope that everyone found there way home!

Sat 29th July - Ladies County Triples

Congratulations to Rebecca Smith, Myra Smith and Stella Briton playing in the County Finals at Harlow Bowls Club on Saturday 29th July. The final was against a team from Rainham and the whole match was played in the pouring rain. It was a very close game, the score being 12 all after 16 ends. Then Rainham gained 3 on the 17th end. So going into the last end one could well have thought it was all over, but our team were not going to lose lying down and all played well with a brilliant last wood from Rebecca giving our ladies the 4 needed for a win!
In the National Finals at Leamington in August they were beaten in the first round.
