Thursday 25th September - Poppy Challenge

The final competitive match of the season saw Clock House take on the Royal British Legion for the Poppy Challenge. With Dave King leading the Legion team and desperate to snatch the trophy, the outcome was a comfortable win for Clock House by 104 shots to 89 to retain the trophy. The real winner on the evening was the Royal British Legion collecting £132 for their charity. Dave was reluctant to present the trophy to Val Baker, the Clock House Captain.

The game was followed by a good indulgence of those dainty sandwiches, without crusts, scones with jam/cream or cream/jam, sausage rolls and cakes. Of course there was the sponsored wine.
 Well done Mike.

Monday 15th September - Men’s Selected Pairs

Congratulations to John King & Chris Baker winning the Men’s Selected pairs competition. It all came down to the last match where John & Chris were up against Brian Barlass & Steve Legge. Both pairs had won their previous 3 games and both on 16 points. Chris & John made the last 2 ends count, winning 9 – 5. Runners up were Brian White and Barry Watkins with 20 pts, Brian and Steve came 3rd with 18 pts. In mainly good conditions we had 18 taking part with some very close matches.

Saturday 23rd August - Alvera Plate

Congratulations to Clare Hull & Rob Shorey who took the honours in the  Alvera Plate competition. We had 9 strong mixed pairs taking part on a very sunny Saturday afternoon. Saturday 2nd August - Ron Errington

A select turnout of 17 members, not ideal as it's a prime number, were somehow drawn from the selection hat and formed into 5 Triples and a Pair to play the Ron Errington competition with 3 Rounds of 7 ends. With some very close scores in the first 2 rounds, there was the possibility of 4 teams ending with 4 points each. However in the last round, Team A turned a 7 shot deficit after 4 ends into an 8-7 win to take the trophy. Runners up were Jane Legge, Tony Hayes and Barry Watkins but with 3 wins and 6 points on the day were Sue Shorey, Terry Coughlin and Bob Pudney.

Monday 28th June
Men's Silver Jubilee

Many congratulations to Barry Kavanagh who won the Men’s Silver Jubilee Trophy and Rob Crabb who went on to claim the Silver Jubilee Plate.
Both Barry & Rob earned their wins against a 19 strong group, which included many of the best Men bowlers in the club.

Sunday 9th June - Hetty Foster

The weather stayed kind to the bowlers turning out for the Hetty Foster triples competition. 30 bowlers were in the draw for the 10 Triple teams, each playing 4 rounds of 6 ends. Congratulations to Chris Baker who adds The Hetty Foster to The Earls that he won a few weeks ago. Chris was joined by Maureen Haddon & Bernie Finch, winning all 4 of their matches quite convincingly. Once again many matches were won on the last end.

During the afternoon's play, the triple team of Jenny Bullock, Barry Haddon and Sandra Ringshaw accomplished  a nine bowl "Hot Shot" which was submitted for recording with the Bowls International Hot Shots Club and appears in the August issue of the magazine.
